aJames System

aJames simplifies controlling TV by using a high quality touch screen (“aPit”) and an Internet-connected base station (“aBase”). Using the Internet, the aBase establishes direct access to the respective manufacturers, content providers or appliances.  Through synchronization with what is being shown on TV, the viewer can, for example, receive Internet content on the aPit and thereby interact with the outside world. Using the aPit the viewer can also direct all forms of content and services from the Internet onto the TV screen. This “dual-screen logic” is widely accepted by TV viewers. With the aPit it is also possible to bring various forms of content and service offers from the Internet directly on to your TV screen, for example free VOD from NBC, Flickr, YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, iTunes music store, etc.

Besides the integrated WLAN the aBase also has a DSL or cable modem to be able to build broadband access to the Internet. The household is identified using the SIM card. The System can be used after the SIM card has been plugged into the aBase. The aBase has one, or more, TV tuners, a hard drive and, if applicable, a conditional access module (CAM). The necessary aJames operating system, based on Linux, runs on the aBase. This operating system provides the necessary interfaces for the basic functional software for users, devices, manufacturers, content providers and service providers. It controls the activities, functions as a switch between the devices, ensures security and makes services individually and directly billable.
